A Practitioner's Guide to Hormone Support
Reviewed by Carolyn Mulally BS, RN, HN-BC · Holistic Health Partners
Hormones are a system, not a switch — and supplements can support that system at several distinct points. The formulas above are what our clinic recommends: estrogen-metabolism support, foundational precursors, and botanical regulators from Designs for Health, Ortho Molecular, Pure Encapsulations, and Gaia Herbs Professional.
Supporting healthy estrogen metabolism
DIM — in DIM-Evail, DIM Detox, and CDG EstroDIM — is a compound from cruciferous vegetables studied for supporting the way the body processes estrogen. Calcium-D-glucarate assists the elimination side of that same process. These are the workhorses of the category for both women and men.
Precursors: pregnenolone and DHEA
Pregnenolone and DHEA sit upstream of many hormones the body makes, and levels decline predictably with age. We carry them at conservative, practitioner-appropriate doses (DHEA at 5–10 mg, not the mega-doses sold online) — because precursor hormones deserve measured use, ideally informed by testing.
Botanical regulation: vitex
Vitex (chasteberry) is one of the best-studied botanicals for supporting cycle regularity and hormonal comfort, working through the body's own signaling rather than supplying hormones. Gaia's professional-strength formulas anchor this shelf.
Hormones are testable. Don't guess when you can know.

What does DIM actually do?
DIM supports the pathways your body uses to metabolize estrogen toward its more favorable forms. It doesn't add or block hormones — it supports how yours are processed.
Should I take DHEA or pregnenolone without testing?
We'd rather you didn't. Both are inexpensive to test, and knowing your baseline turns a guess into a plan. Our home-based diagnostic testing plus a consultation handles exactly this.
Is vitex for me?
Vitex suits cycle-related goals — regularity, monthly comfort — and takes two to three cycles of consistent use to judge fairly. It's not a quick fix, and it's not for everyone; ask first.
Can men use these products?
Several — DIM and calcium-D-glucarate support estrogen metabolism in men too, and precursor decline isn't only a women's issue. The right choices differ, though; that's what the free consultation is for.
