Berberine by Integrative Therapeutics provides 500mg of Berberine hcl in each capsule for metabolic support. Many plants contain berberine as an active constituent, including the root Phellodendron amurense. Traditional Chinese medicine has used these plants for centuries. Berberine activates AMPK (adenosine monophosphate kinase). Exercise and other mechanisms activate AMPK to support the metabolism of glucose through a mechanism that is insulin-independent.
