Methyl-Guard 180c byThorne

Methyl-Guard by Thorne helps maintain normal plasma homocysteine levels. Normal levels are associated with proper maintenance of cognitive, bone, female reproductive, and neurological health. Activated folic acid (L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate), activated vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin), betaine (more specifically trimethylglycine), and active vitamin B6 (pyridoxal 5'-phosphate) all help lower homocysteine levels by breaking down homocysteine into methionine, cysteine, and taurine (all three are amino acids). Folic acid also helps normal functioning of arterial walls and Methyl-Guard contains 400 mcg of L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) because high levels of homocysteine prevents the conversion of folic acid to 5-MTHF. This Thorne product supports brain, bone, and nerve health.*

Warning:
5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) supplementation is not recommended concurrent with methotrexate cancer therapy, as it can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, this folate source has not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
